SEAD Gallery is proud to welcome our very first international Artist in Residence, Amsterdam-based artist Marie-Renée Hoeks, to Historic Downtown Bryan from January 15 – February 11, 2015!
During her time in Bryan, Marie-Renée will present community art dialogues, engage with the community in creating a new body of work, host open studios, and more. Marie-Renée’s exhibit, “Characters,” will be featured in the main SEAD Gallery while her new works, created during her residency, will be displayed in the Downtown Reading Room. Marie-Renée will be accepting commissions as well.
Marie-Renée graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at Utrecht in 1982, and she has since developed a deep passion for painting. Her textile designs and fashion collections have been followed for years. The key to her passion is to think and perform creatively. Marie-Renée enjoys painting human and animal portraits and landscapes, as well as free works. She has regular exhibition in respected galleries, both locally and abroad. Her passion is to motivate people and to inspire new challenges by allowing people to discover that they can create.
Be sure to check out our events calendar for more information on Marie-Renee’s First Friday Open Studio, her final Community Art Dialogue, and February’s Second Sunday Foreign Film Series showing!
Special thanks to The City of Bryan, Cattlesoft, Square One Downtown Bryan Event Center and Loft, This is Water Theater, and Downtown Uncorked, for their support of this program!
