Two Lecturers from UNT to Exhibit at SEAD

SEAD Gallery is proud to announce the opening for Deanna Ooley’s “Sacred Scents” and Kate Colin’s “Spontaneous Symmetry” on March 16th. Join us for the opening reception from 6:30 to 8 PM during Downtown Bryan Art Step. The two exhibits will be open to the public through May 6th.

Deanna Ooley and Kate Colin are both lecturers in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas. Ooley’s exhibit, “Sacred Scents”, is based on science and color theory. The aromatic shrines will be based on plant imagery with some general and Texas plants as the themes. Kate Colin’s “Spontaneous Symmetry” is a group of paintings that suggest a twisted theory of everything. She combines the format of world maps and hyperbolic geometry to achieve complexity. Disparate layers of media expose paint washes, graphite drawings, and soft brushwork. This energetic work seeks the unification of structure and nature.

We believe that arts and creativity are crucial to the sciences and technology because they are the tools that allow technology to be usable in real life. Arts are used in all things that are crucial to STEM learning and careers. To better engage our community in creative innovation, our upcoming exhibit will blur the lines between science and art.
