SEAD Gallery is excited to announce the opening for Shelly Floyd’s “Fluidity” on May 18th! Join us in the main gallery from 6:30-8 PM during Downtown Bryan Art Step for the opening reception. Shelly has chosen to raffle off a piece of her work at the opening to raise money for Pink Alliance, an advocate for breast cancer support in the Brazos Valley. You can catch Shelly’s exhibit until July 15th.
Shelly Floyd is an Austin based artist that has been making art since she was 8 years old. Throughout the years she has experimented with all types of mediums including oil, water, spray paint, and acrylic along with dabbling in sculptures, woodwork, and creating hand crafted jewelry. All of these experimentations have lead her to create her own unique technique using acrylic paint that will be featured in “Fluidity”. She uses unique acrylic mediums that allow her to shape, bend, and flow colors to create a composition that is organic and independent from structure. Shelly describes her work, much like herself, as “free minded and goes with the flow”. She always starts with only colors in mind and allows the paint to create structure and take form on it’s own. Shelly aims to evoke emotion on a deeper level so that her viewers can depart from reality and experience something that is truly free with no restrictions or preconceptions.
