SEAD Gallery and Bookshop is thrilled to present “Kaleidoscope” by local BCS artist, Sarah Henderson. The Opening Reception will be held during Downtown Bryan Art Step, on September 16th from 6:30 – 8 PM.
Sarah has worked privately for the last five years and has since shown her work in various homes and restaurants around the country. Her philosophy centers around serendipity and embracing the unexpected in life. Sarah demonstrates this in her artwork through saturated and layered coloring. “My favorite colors are bright and glossy, although there is always a place in my pallette for muted tones as well”. She is inspired by aerial images of earth, space, the cosmos, and anything seen under a microscope (how cool!). Her resulting artwork is full of texture, movement, and depth. Sarah says that, “While painting the Kaleidoscope collection I was struck by the constantly changing patterns of our lives. This collection illustrates how outside of form and figure there is balance and beauty”. As an abstract artist, Sarah enjoys experimenting with color and the special effects behind texture and pigment. Outside of her passion for the arts, Sarah also finds pleasure in the little things in life such as cooking, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
Sarah has chosen to raffle off a piece of her work to benefit Project Unity. Project Unity aims to empower and strengthen our community by caring for its people, supporting and educating its families, and fostering hope and change in the lives of all involved. The winner of the raffle will have the choice of any of Sarah Henderson’s pieces sized 18” x 24” or smaller. For the cost of a $10 raffle ticket, you could win a piece valued at $465, all while donating to a great cause!
As if a new exhibit opening wasn’t exciting enough, we’re also celebrating our 5th anniversary! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to enjoy the local art scene with our community.
