Dr. Conrad Earnest is not just a photographer, but an adventurer as well. He captures the wonder of the world through his photography. Born in Woodstock, New York, Conrad grew up in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. He began his endless journey with photography in 2012, travelling from Texas to Alaska, and eventually travelling all the way to Iceland, Norway, Africa, and Asia. Conrad was not travelling in search of a particular photo, but instead was on a quest to “wander and explore and let various scenes speak for themselves.”
Will Walker is a self-taught photographer and videographer based here in Bryan, Texas. He and his brother run a media production company, Tall View Productions, and have travelled all over the country. Will grew up in Lubbock, Texas and eventually made his way to Texas A&M University, graduating in 2013. During his time in college, Will received a simple gift, a Nikon camera, that spurred his journey into the world of photography. Not only does Will travel domestically but also abroad. His favorite places he has traveled are Haiti, Peru, Zambia, and the Pacific Northwest. When Will is not searching for the beauty in God’s design all over the world, he enjoys spending time with his family.
When Dr. Conrad Earnest is not doing research, he spends his nights capturing beautiful landscapes and lightwork not only in the Brazos Valley but also around the world. Although Conrad does not have a specific style, he tends to “gravitate towards landscape, cityscape and night photography.” His neverending curiosity led him to have “an affection for finding abandoned buildings, cars, and assertive relics.” One of his personal favorites that you can find in the exhibit displays the Milky Way over White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. This photo is a good depiction of what you can expect to find at the Conversations with Light exhibit here at the SEAD Gallery.
Will Walker is a fan of landscape photography as well, but you will also find “a good range of close up macro shots” in The Conversations with Light exhibit. Many of Will’s photos display a magnified view of nature’s simple beauty. You can see these small details Will loves in his spider web photo taken in Fredericksburg. We invite you to join Will in “noticing things that usually don’t stick out, [and to] find joy in those small details.”
We here at the SEAD Gallery are honored to be hosting Conrad Earnest and Will Walker as they showcase their individual pieces in The Conversations with Light exhibit, which will be on display from January 17, 2019, until March 20, 2019. If you would like to know more about the creation, inspiration, or meaning of individual pieces, we invite you to listen to the audio commentaries provided to us by the artists by clicking here.
The SEAD Gallery would also like to thank Conrad Earnest and Will Walker for each donating a piece from the exhibit for a raffle benefiting Voices for Children, a non-profit organization here in the Brazos Valley that works to improve the lives of children in foster care. We would also like to thank Laura’s Custom Framing for donating to this raffle as well. The raffle will be ongoing with the exhibit from January 17, 2019, until March 20, 2019.
