Hailey Herrera is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi and loves working with freeform lines or shapes in her abstract paintings. She often begins her process with some calligraphic lines without a preconceived idea or result. In the process of interplaying lines and shapes spontaneously, an idea emerges and the painting reveals something new that her intuition and emotion responds to. This spontaneous decision process leads to a fascinating and unconventional result.
